A photo of two halloween wreaths with ghosts.

Halloween might not beat Christmas in search trends, but it’s one of the most searched holidays on the internet — especially for DIY projects. And it’s no surprise! For kids under 13, Halloween is pure magic: costumes, candy, spooky fun, and plenty of opportunities to create together.

Crafting with your kids isn’t just about decorations—it helps them build skills, boosts creativity, and gives you both sweet memories. So before trick-or-treating takes over, grab a bag (literally!) and try one of these fun Halloween crafts.

Paper Lunch Bag Wreath
If you’re ready for a slightly more involved project, this one’s for you! Using simple paper lunch bags, you and your kids can create a Halloween wreath that looks amazing on your front door. It’s festive, budget-friendly, and something you’ll be proud to hang. Watch how my daughter and I made ours here: Halloween Wreath Tutorial.

Garbage Bag Window Clings
Need something quicker? Don’t have paper bags or a hot glue gun? Try this! Grab a black garbage bag, draw a bat, cut it out, and then spray a little water on a window or mirror. Press your bat on the surface, and it will cling—no tape, no mess. You can make bats, witch hats, a spooky “BOO,” or even a black cat. No black bag handy? Use a white kitchen bag and make a ghost instead!

Both crafts prove that Halloween doesn’t have to be complicated to be fun. Whether you choose the wreath or the window clings, the real magic is in the laughter, the creativity, and the memories you’ll make together.
